ROLLSTONE, Domesday Book manor in Fawley
Probably Old English 'Hrothwulf's farm', but the surviving mentions are late. Morris' edition of Domesday Book identifies this with the Domesday Book manor of 'Roweste' also in Redbridge hundred, but this name appears to mean 'rough wooded hill' and is not therefore to be equated with Rolveston. However this need not have been far away; 'Row Down' is adjacent to Rollstone.
